Terms & Conditions
HoiHoi terms and conditions: what HoiHoi is, accuracy of information, safety and emergencies, your account, rules for content you post, the Festive Challenge, groups, offers and listings, ownership and permitted use, liability and governing law.
These terms are the agreement between you and HoiHoi Digital for using the HoiHoi website (hoihoi.in) and the HoiHoi mobile app. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use HoiHoi.
What HoiHoi is
HoiHoi is a free information guide to West Bengal: Durga Puja pandals and the Panjika, destinations, Kolkata city directories, food, festivals and travel. The app adds features such as maps, saved lists, groups, community posts and the Festive Challenge.
HoiHoi is independent. It is not a government authority, and it is not affiliated with any puja committee, civic body, police force or transport operator unless a partnership is stated on a specific page.
Accuracy of information
We compile information from public sources and community mapping and work to keep it correct, but details change, especially during festivals. Timings, routes, muhurats, helpline numbers, prices and opening hours may be out of date or wrong, and pandal and place positions on maps can be approximate.
Please confirm anything important with the organiser, operator or authority concerned before you rely on it. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will correct it.
Safety and emergencies
HoiHoi is not an emergency service. The SOS screen shows helplines and records that it was opened; it does not call or dispatch the police, an ambulance or the fire service. In an emergency, call 112.
Follow the instructions of the police, volunteers and local authorities on the ground, even where they differ from what HoiHoi shows. You are responsible for your own safety and belongings while travelling and in crowds.
Your account
Some app features need you to sign in with Google. Give accurate information, keep your device and Google account secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what is done through it.
You must be 18 or older to use HoiHoi, sign in or take part in the Festive Challenge. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app.
Content you post
You keep ownership of the posts, photos and comments you publish. By publishing them you give HoiHoi a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display, resize and share them within HoiHoi and on HoiHoi’s official social channels, for as long as they remain on the service.
When you offer a photo for a place, you confirm that you took it yourself, that it is not copied from a website, another person’s post, a stock library or made with an AI tool, and that it shows no one in a private or embarrassing way. If HoiHoi approves it, it is shown for that place with your name and profile picture. HoiHoi checks every photo before showing it and may refuse or remove any photo, including one that also appears elsewhere.
Post only what you have the right to post. You must not post content that:
- is unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene or sexually explicit;
- insults any religion, community, caste, gender or person, or is likely to provoke violence;
- shows another person in a private or embarrassing way without their consent, or shares their personal details;
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
- is spam, an advertisement, a scam or deliberately false information;
- contains malware or tries to interfere with the service.
You can report content and block users in the app. We may remove any content, and suspend or close any account, that breaks these rules or the law, with or without notice.
Festive Challenge and Pujo Passport
Taking part is optional and free. The rules, dates and any prizes for each season are shown in the app and form part of these terms.
Entries must be your own photos. Check-ins are verified using your location at the pandal. We may remove entries, likes or check-ins that appear fake, automated or manipulated, and disqualify the accounts involved. HoiHoi’s decision on results is final. Winners may need to prove their identity, and any tax due on a prize is the winner’s responsibility.
Groups and shared expenses
Groups help friends and family plan together. Location sharing inside a group is switched on by you and is visible to that group’s members. The shared-expense feature is only a record that members keep among themselves; HoiHoi does not hold, move or guarantee any money and is not responsible for settling it.
Offers, listings and other services
Offers, hotels, stalls and sponsored listings are provided by the businesses concerned and are labelled as promotional where they are paid for. Any booking, purchase or dispute is between you and that business; HoiHoi is not a party to it and does not guarantee price, availability or quality.
HoiHoi links to and uses other services, such as Google Maps and transport or booking websites. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
Ownership and permitted use
The HoiHoi name, logo, design, text, compiled data and software belong to HoiHoi Digital or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. City-directory and map data drawn from OpenStreetMap remains © OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database Licence.
You may use HoiHoi for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:
- copy, republish, sell or redistribute HoiHoi content or data without our written permission;
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download the website or app, or use it to train or feed an AI system;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, website or API, or bypass any protection on them;
- overload, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or to other people’s accounts;
- use HoiHoi for anything unlawful.

Disclaimer and liability
HoiHoi is provided “as is” and “as available”, free of charge. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate at every moment.
To the fullest extent the law allows, HoiHoi Digital is not liable for any loss, injury, delay, missed event, expense or damage arising from your use of HoiHoi, from relying on information in it, from content posted by other users, or from your dealings with third parties. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
Suspension and ending
You may stop using HoiHoi and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms, and we may change, pause or withdraw any feature. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as ownership and liability, continue after your use ends.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as HoiHoi grows. The effective date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If you keep using HoiHoi after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Kolkata, West Bengal have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, after we have first tried in good faith to resolve it with you directly.
